ROSELLE (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Bond was denied on Sunday for a man alleged to have opened fire, wounding an innocent patron in the head inside a Roselle restaurant over the weekend.

The DuPage County State’s Attorney Office has charged 22-year-old Jamie Quijano with attempted murder along with several firearm felonies. At around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, Roselle police officers arrived at Bulldog Ale House after a report of gunfire inside the restaurant. The DuPage County State’s Attorney said when officers entered the establishment they discovered a woman in her 20’s shot in the head. The woman was then rushed to a local hospital for treatment.

Following an investigation, authorities determined that a Bulldog Ale House employee and Quijano had an argument and following the dispute, as Quijano was walking toward the exit, he turned around and allegedly began firing a gun. Roselle police said Quijano fired his weapon 18 times, with one of the bullets striking an innocent, female patron in the head.

After the shooting, Quijano fled on foot and was eventually apprehended at home a little while later, the DuPage County State’s Attorney noted. There, police said they  found a pistol and a magazine on top of a couch as well as uncovered two live rounds of ammunition- one in Quijano’s pants pocket, another in a satchel he had been carrying.

“Judge Alvarado’s denial of bond (Sunday) morning sends the message that senseless, unprovoked acts of violence as alleged in this case will most certainly not be tolerated in DuPage County,” DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert B. Berlin said. “The type of extreme violence alleged in this case can have a chilling effect on the entire community and will be met with the full force of the law. I wish the victim in this case well and it is my sincerest hope that she has a speedy and full recovery.

Quijano will be back in court on August 15 for arraignment. If convicted, Quijano could face anywhere between 31 years to life in prison.
