DUPAGE COUNTY, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A Lemont man who’s accused of leading police on chase after leaving the DuPage County jail is due in court.
It happened Wednesday morning. Carlos Russian, 36 was sentenced in late April to one-year on conditional discharge and 30 days of work release for driving with a revoked license.
Shortly after midnight Wednesday morning, Russian left the jail on a motorcycle and headed south on County Farm Road. A DuPage County sheriff's deputy followed, and police said Russian immediately accelerated, reaching a speed of about 85 miles per hour and at one point running a red light. Police gave up the chase.
When Russian returned to the jail later that morning to continue serving his sentence, he was arrested on charges of aggravated fleeing and eluding a police officer, and multiple traffic offenses.
