A 38-year-old man from north suburban Zion has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for conspiring to help ISIS.
The case goes back six years. Prosecutors say Joseph Jones and a co-defendant embraced ISIS and collected cell phones they believed would eventually be used to detonate explosive devices overseas.
They allegedly drove an undercover agent to O’Hare, believing he was on his way to fight for ISIS.
A jury convicted Jones in 2019 of one count of conspiring to provide material support and resources to ISIS.
