Man killed, 4 others injured in South Side crash

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A passenger has died, four others were hurt after a car slammed into a pole on the South Side overnight.

According to Chicago Police, the accident occurred a little after 2:10 a.m., near 77th and Vincennes. A white Chrysler 300 sedan was headed south when it hit a pole.

Five people were inside the Chrysler at the time of the crash. A rear passenger, an unidentified male, died at the scene, police said.

The driver, a 19-year-old man, suffered a broken femur and hip and was rushed to University of Chicago Medical Center in serious condition.

Police said three other passengers suffered injuries. An 18-year-old man sustained lacerations and was also sent to UChicago. A 22-year-old man was sent to Advocate Christ Medical Medical Center with unspecified injuries. He’s listed in fair condition.

One more passenger, an unidentified male, suffered a broken femur and was sent to Christ in serious condition.

No other cars were involved, police said. Charges are pending.
