CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A man fresh out of prison is in custody again after Chicago police arrested him for a deadly domestic attack in Edgewater Wednesday morning.
Eleven-year-old Jayden Perkins died and his pregnant mother was initially listed in critical condition with stab wounds after Chicago police responded to an apartment on Ravenswood near Peterson.
It was about 8 a.m. and officers found the boy with an unspecified chest injury.
While police did not offer details about the suspect they have in custody, the Chicago Sun-Times reported he's a 37-year-old man with a long history of violence.
The paper said he was released from Stateville Correctional Center on Tuesday.
He reportedly was on parole for a 2017 aggravated domestic battery. He was also convicted of attacking an ex-girlfriend and her son in Kenwood in 2015.
Neighbors said a 5-year-old boy in the apartment on Wednesday was not hurt.
