Man shot outside Gage Park migrant shelter: Police

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A man was shot outside a migrant facility in Gage Park Saturday afternoon.

The city runs the migrant shelter. The incident occurred in the 2400 block of West 55th Street at approximately 12:44 p.m., police said. The 28-year-old male victim was on the sidewalk when an unknown vehicle pulled up.

The unknown individual inside the vehicle pulled out a firearm and fired shots at the victim, striking him in the head.

The victim was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital and is in critical condition, according to police. Authorities are currently investigating the incident.

The victim's name has not yet been released by police.
