(WBBM NEWSRADIO) - March Madness proved to be lucrative for most casino sportsbooks in Illinois.

According to the Illinois Gaming Board, casino sportsbooks made nearly $14.5 million during the NCAA Men’s and Women’s basketball tournaments. A total of more than $286 million in bets were placed, an overwhelming chunk of that for the men’s March Madness games.

Only Hollywood Casino Aurora lost money during the tournaments, coming up about $6,800 short.

Who were the big winners? Illinois taxpayers, as the betting generated more than $2 million in tax revenue for the state.
