Music amid COVID-19 pandemic

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Live music is returning to the suburbs, one person at a time.

The McAninch Arts Center in Glen Ellyn is dipping its toe back into the water of live concerts.

The upcoming performance by the Texas Tenors on April 11 will have an audience of just two people.

The public can buy tickets to watch the live stream, but according to the Daily Herald, the center is auctioning off two tickets to see the performance in person.

The silent auction is a fundraiser for the College of DuPage Foundation. Online bidding for the two live tickets started at $250 at textenors.givesmart.com. The auction closes at 5 p.m. Friday, April 9.

The highest bidders will still need to comply with all COVID-19 safety protocols at the show, including wearing face masks and undergoing temperature checks.

McAninch Arts Center Director Diana Martinez said the show is the first step to the return of live concerts.
