(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A large beaver is turning heads on the Chicago River, but she needs a name.
Urban Rivers Volunteer Coordinator Stephen Meyer says this big beaver is easy to spot.
“We see a lot of beaver activity and we get pretty used to what they normally look like. And there's this one on the south side near Bubbly Creek, that's just so much bigger and more round than all of the others,” Meyer said.
Experts think the beaver is pregnant but this one is big even without being pregnant. Adult beavers usually weigh between 40 and 70 pounds.
And in the spirit of "Chance The Snapper" and "Chonkasaurus", Urban Rivers is sifting through suggestions for a name for the large beaver.
“Lori Webbedfoot, a lot of people also like Lori Heavyfoot. Oh, Madame Ryan, like Dan Ryan.”
No matter the name, the beaver is certainly a Chicagoan.

“It does feel very Chicago. It feels very, very deep-ish, very, I don't know, Bridgeport, feels very, very Chicago. Broad shoulders, broad beavers.”
To submit a name, contact Urban Rivers.
