CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Select Metra riders could experience delays today following the derailment of an Amtrak train on Sunday.

Metra’s Milwaukee West, Milwaukee North and North Central Service will operate this morning but could be delayed and have schedule changes because of the yesterday afternoon’s Amtrak derailment.

According to Metra Spokesman Michael Gillis, some tracks are still blocked into and out of Union Station, as a result, creating a “choke point” and restricting train travel in and out of station.

Here is an update on specific trains:

Milwaukee West train #2218 will run.

North Central Service train #110 will pick up passengers at River Grove.

North Central Service train #2403 will not run.

North Central Service train #2205 will run.

Milwaukee North train #2112 will not operate.

Milwaukee North train #2116 will run.

Metra said that some inbound passengers may be dropped off at Western Avenue to transfer to other trains. The situation will last through the morning and could affect the evening commute, Gillis said.

Riders are asked to listen to platform and station announcements for delay times, schedule changes and cancellations.

Union Pacific West and Union Pacific North lines could be used as alternatives.
