Travelers at Midway Airport will now be treated to a massive mural celebrating a local baseball team.
“You can’t get more Chicago than the White Sox and Midway Airport so it’s great.”
Gareth Breunlin is Vice President of Marketing and Advertising for the Sox, whose history now covers more than 13 thousand square feet of wall space between Midway and the CTA Orange Line station.
“It has legendary White Sox players, historic moments throughout our history, Chicago locations and neighborhoods and our fans. It’s just a cool touchpoint for the White Sox in the community.”
At an unveiling event Thursday morning, some travelers snapped pics with Southpaw, others grabbed free hot dogs, all while Zissou Tasseff‑Elenkoff of All-Star Press, the artist behind the mural, soaked it all in.
“It’s going to be seen by millions of people every year. It’s really exciting, I’m super honored to be even considered for it. Hopefully we don’t get too many people tagging it.”
