(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The number of buses bringing migrants to Chicago is slowing down, for the first time in months.
Over the past week, only 16 buses have arrived compared to October, when numbers reached 71 buses in an eight-day span.
The number of migrants staying at police stations is also down. According to data from the city’s Office of Emergency Management and Communications, at the beginning of the week, 2,300 migrants were awaiting shelter at police stations and airports, the fewest since late September.
The lower numbers come at the same time the city has opened more shelters, including two of the biggest in the West Loop and on the Lower West Side.
