(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – Chicago’s downtown Loop parking garages are adding more EV charging stations to meet the growth in electric vehicle ownership in Chicago.
ComEd joined Millennium Garages to highlight the first 100 electric vehicle (EV) chargers installed as part of a plan to offer up to 300 total EV chargers at the downtown Chicago parking complex by 2026.
Jamie Ponce, chief innovation and strategy officer for Millennium Garages, said the garage is the largest public EV charging hub in Chicago and the Midwest.
Millennium Garages has more than 9,000 parking spaces across four garages in the Loop.
Currently, nearly 23,000 EV vehicles are registered in Cook County, and that number is expected to keep climbing.
