CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Federal authorities recently seized more counterfeit law enforcement badges shipped from China.

The U.S. Customs and Border Protections officers on Sunday and Monday intercepted 26 counterfeit Drug Enforcement Agency badges at the Chicago International Mail Branch.

The fake badges were destined to various states including Washington, Iowa, Kentucky, Florida, California, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Virginia, Indiana, Ohio, Texas and Illinois.

Less than two weeks ago, CBP officers seized eight DEA badges and one FBI badge in Chicago. Those two were shipped from China and came via the same shipping company as those recently seized.

“Finding these and ensuring dangerous criminals can’t use these badges for illegal activity is further proof of how CBP protects our nations communities,” LaFonda Sutton-Burke, director of field operations in Chicago, said in a news release.

CBP regularly intercepts narcotics, weapons, currency, prohibited agriculture products, counterfeit goods and other illicit items at 328 international ports of entry in the U.S.
