CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - More than 100 people were shot, including 19 people who were killed, in violence in Chicago over the long holiday weekend.

The Chicago Police will issue the official numbers later this morning, but the website CWB Chicago has tracked 104 people shot, including 19 who died from Wednesday night through Sunday night.

That’s up more than 27 percent over last year when at least 73 people were shot, including 11 who died. Mayor Brandon Johnson and Superintendent Larry Snelling are scheduled to discuss the violence at police headquarters at 9 a.m.

The city canceled days off for officers to maximize police presence and ensure prompt responses.
