(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Three people were injured in a crash that caused a full closure of inbound Interstate 55 for several hours Thursday morning.
Illinois State Police (ISP) said the crash, involving a couple of vehicles, happened around 12:15 a.m. on the inbound Stevenson Expressway just past LaGrange Road.
Of the three victims, one person was hospitalized with serious injuries. It wasn’t immediately clear if the other two victims were treated at the scene or taken to a hospital, as well.
Police closed all inbound lanes after the crash from LaGrange Road to First Avenue, and the expressway didn’t reopen until shortly after 6 a.m.
ISP is investigating the crash.
