(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A Chicago man who was convicted of murder 12 years ago at the age of 18, based on testimony from a legally blind witness, has had his conviction vacated.
Darien Harris is now 30. While his murder conviction was vacated, prosecutors are planning to try him a second time for the 2011 murder of Rondell Moore.
Attorney Lauren Myerscough Mueller of the Exoneration Project said she was surprised and disappointed with that. She noted two other witnesses in the case said they were coerced by police to lie about what they saw.
Harris’ attorneys are planning to go to trial as soon as possible. He's currently being held, pending his next trial.
