The city is trying to have a little fun with Chicago’s winter-time weather and residents are encouraged to join in.

The city has started a “Name A Snowplow” contest. Between now and January 6, or when 20,000 names have been submitted, Chicagoans are invited to suggest names for city snowplows.

Participants can submit the names to Chicagoshovels.org. Names must be no more than 50 characters in length.

The suggestions list will be whittled down to 50 names, and then Chicagoans will get a chance to vote next month for six of the names. The top six names will be placed on snowplows that will are assigned to the city’s six snow districts.
