NAPERVILLE, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Benny White is tossing his hat into the ring to become Naperville’s next mayor.
The announcement comes after Mayor Steve Chirico said he would not be seeking reelection.
In a statement on Facebook, White said the city needs a proven leader that will protect long-term progress, attract new businesses and residents and make sure that all voices are heard.
White served on the Indian Prairie School Board from 2012-2017 and has been on the Naperville City Council for the last five years.
Also in the mayoral race is local business executive Scott Wehrli, who is seeking his first elective term in office. Naperville's Consolidated Municipal Election is April 4, 2023.
