CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A Narcan vending machine is going to be placed at a busy CTA el station in the coming months.

It’s a way to help deal with the city’s opioid crisis. The Narcan vending machine is to be placed this summer at the CTA Red Line’s 95th Street station.

The Chicago Department of Public Health plans similar vending machines in four other community locations. According to Block Club Chicago, besides Narcan, the vending machine will have other harm reduction tools such as fentanyl testing strips.

More people died last year than any other year of opioid overdoses in Cook County-nearly 2,000 people with dozens of autopsies not yet completed.
