(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is reporting one of the largest-ever seizures of fentanyl in the county.

The sheriff’s office said two kilograms of the drug—about 4.4 pounds—was seized from a truck on Route 14 in Cary.

Two men, 28-year-old Joaquin R. Montano-Martinez, of  Melrose Park, and 43-year-old Patricio Rosales-Diaz, of Palatine, are charged with possession and possession with intent to deliver.

The street value, according to prosecutors, is about $200,000 dollars.

The McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office said “two milligrams of fentanyl is considered a lethal dose, which is about 10 to 15 grains of table salt. One kilogram alone has the potential to kill 500,000 people.”

So, this had the potential to kill 1 million people.
