The Bears made a local product’s dream come true last night by selecting offensive tackle Kiran Amegadjie in the third round of the NFL Draft. Amegadjie attended Hinsdale Central before heading off to college at Yale, where he was a three-year starter and earned FCS third-team All-American honors this past season.
The first time Amegadjie had contact with anyone from his favorite team was something out of the movies.
"Actually, my first interaction with the Bears was in the Chili's of Terminal 1 at Chicago O'Hare Airport. We talked about the scout who I missed my gate and I was walking back to my actual game and he stopped me my first interaction with the bears are completely random
And although Amegadjie did not have time to sit for a snack, the interaction led to more visits and contacts, and then a Round 3 NFL Draft phone call on Friday night.
This lifelong Bears fan is now a Chicago Bears player.
