ALGONQUIN, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The almost-finished Longmeadow Parkway in Algonquin is likely to have a lower toll than Kane County originally planned for.
The planned toll for the more than 5.5 mile Longmeadow Parkway is set at $.95 now for non-Kane County and Algonquin residents and discounted for residents.
However, the Daily Herald reports that the state funds are now covering half of the cost to build the roadway, which would allow the Kane County board to reduce the toll for motorists, according to Tom Rickert, the county’s deputy transportation director.
He’s not yet suggesting what the new toll would be. "If we only receive the $17.5 million, there will be toll relief," Rickert told the Daily Herald. "That will be the focus. I don't want to throw out a number without having the data to make sure it actually works."
The Longmeadow Parkway is to be fully open next year.
