(WBBM NEWSRADIO) --An NFL owner and Chicago native said he’s keeping a close eye on the potential for the Bears to make the move to Arlington Heights.

Having spent more than 50 years working in the NFL, Indianapolis Colts owner and Chicago native Jim Irsay is no stranger to stadium disputes.

“Politics with stadium building is difficult,” he said. “To say politics in Chicago is difficult, if you don’t believe me, my dad grew up in the ‘40s and ‘50s when Daley’s big machine was rolling and times were different.”

He said major teams moving out of big cities is nothing new, especially in recent years, and that finances play a key role.

Regardless of where the Bears call home, Irsay said the end goal remains the same.

“Fans will be most happy when teams win,” he said. “They’d rather have the Bears win three Lombardi’s in Gary, Indiana and play on gravel than play in a nice stadium. It’s about winning.”

Which, he said, starts with quarterback play.
