(WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A local high school graduate has made a movie about the greatest time of your life.
Leo Milano is a Chicago area-native and graduated from Notre Dame High School in northwest suburban Niles.
“‘The Crusades’ is about three friends in high school, [it] covers them the weekend they find out they’re merging with their rival school,” said Milano.
He has tapped into his prep days as inspiration for this high school comedy, which he directed and co-wrote.
“I feel like growing up I really couldn’t relate to a lot of the high school movies and the teenage movies that Hollywood put out. Growing up in the Midwest, there’s not lavish mansion parties, pool parties. Then, when I got to college, I quickly realized that my experience in an all-boys school was nothing like the average high school experience…I think it’s a movie for everyone, believe it or not,” Milano said.
"The Crusades" had its red-carpet premiere at the Pickwick Theatre in Park Ridge this week. It is now in theaters.
