(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — College football is headed back to Wrigley Field this weekend.
The Chicago Bears played for 50 years at Wrigley Field. between 1921 and 1970.
And between 2010 and 2021, the Northwestern University Wildcats played twice at Wrigley.
The game in 2021 against Illinois Fighting Illini in November 2010, was notorious because all plays ran in the same direction - towards the end zone in the third base dugout. The other end zone was a foot away from the wall in right field. Illinois wallopped Northwestern 48-27.
This season, NU will be playing there twice – Saturday against #2 ranked Ohio State and in two weeks against the University of Illinois.
Kick-off takes place at 11 a.m. this weekend.
Fun fact: Saturday’s game will mark the 6th different major league ballpark that the Ohio State Buckeyes have ever played.
