Where do Illinois colleges, universities land in prominent 'best schools' ranking?

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Multiple Illinois colleges and universities were featured in a new report that ranks the nation's top schools.

The rankings from the U.S. News and World Report list Northwestern University as the ninth best university in the nation out of 1,500 schools.

The University of Chicago and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign placed 12th and 35th in the country, respectively.

Principia College, Wheaton College, and Lake Forest College were among the best liberal arts colleges.

U.S. News and World Report said  this year's rankings placed a greater emphasis on social mobility and outcomes for graduating college students.
