JOLIET (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Another snag has developed in the labor dispute between St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet and its nurses.
According to the Illinois Nurses Association, nearly 80% of the nurses at St. Joseph Medical Center have turned down the hospital administration’s most recent offer.
Ascension Healthcare had called the offer its last, best and final offer. Still, the nurse’s union is calling on the company to return to negotiations.
Main sticking points are wages and the way nurses are assigned to various units. Nurses said the company is offering below-market wages and wants to be able to have nurses work in areas they don’t specialize in.
WBBM has reached out to Ascension Healthcare requesting comment.
