CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Mayor Lori Lightfoot said she hopes more resources are coming from Washington soon to help slow the flow of guns into Chicago.
Lightfoot on Monday said she hopes to hear an announcement within days that more federal task force agents will confront gun violence in Chicago and other big cities around the nation.
The mayor said she talked with President Biden last week during his trip here and federal officials as recently as Monday morning about the urgent need.
Speaking on the South Side, the Mayor said she envisions a joint federal and local task force to focus on weapons trafficking.
