CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) – One person was sent to the hospital in critical condition after a fire broke out in a Lakeview high-rise Friday evening.
The two-alarm fire was isolated to the 15th floor of the building at 421 W. Melrose, Chicago fire officials said.
Deputy Fire Chief Shaun T. Hayes praised the firefighters while speaking to CBS 2.
"Without their bravery and tenacity that they showed at this fire, it could have been a lot worse," he said.
Investigators have not said what might have sparked the fire, and no other injuries have been reported.
