(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The Shedd Aquarium has an adorable new addition, from Alaska.
A rescued male northern sea otter pup arrived at the Shedd on Nov. 29. He's been behind the scenes since, receiving nonstop care and adjusting to his new surroundings, which include the Shedd's other otters.
The male pup is estimated to be about eight weeks old and weighs about 10 pounds. He was rescued by the Alaska SeaLife Center after being found stranded, wounded and in distress with no mother in sight.
The Shedd is one of only a few facilities in the U.S. that can provide the space and care needed for stranded sea otter pups.
When he will make his official public debut has not yet been decided.
