(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A cricket stadium is coming to far west suburban Oswego.
The Oswego village board has approved the construction of Breybourne Stadium, a 24,000-seat cricket stadium that will be built along with a couple of restaurants, a hotel and clubhouses for members and players.
“Cricket is wildly popular throughout the world. It is seen by over 2 billion-plus people worldwide in many countries. There are already millions of existing fans throughout the US,” project representative Carrie Hansen said.
Paresh Patel, an Oswego resident, is behind the privately funded development.
The first games are expected to be played there late next summer or early fall.
