Pair of rabid bats discovered in suburban Cook County

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Two rabid bats were found this week in suburban Cook County.

One bat was found in southwest suburban Justice, the other in south suburban Homewood.

The Cook County Department of Animal and Rabies Control reports that around 25 rabid bats are typically found each year, with six discovered so far in 2024.

Rabies is deadly for unvaccinated pets and dangerous for humans, with bats as the main carriers.
