Palatine condo complex destroyed in fire

PALATINE (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A fire at a condominium complex in northwest suburban Palatine has left dozens homeless.

The fire started shortly after 5 p.m. Sunday at the Windhaven Condominiums. It took more than three hours to put the fire out.

This resident told CBS-2 that her biggest concerns are her elderly parents who live with her.

“My parents are old, and they’re sick, and their medicines are stuck inside, and that’s the hardest part,” she said.

The American Red Cross has been on the scene, assisting with housing accommodations. Amazingly, despite the damage, no injuries were reported.

The cause is under investigation.
