Parents suing Latin School after their 15-year-old son was bullied and then committed suicide

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The parents of a 15-year-old boy who took his own life, after they said he was bullied by classmates at the prestigious Latin School, have filed a lawsuit.

His parents said the bullying was relentless and included suggestions that Nate Bronstein kill himself.

“It had been kept from us, so that’s why we were completely, completely taken off guard when this happened,” Nate’s mother Rose told CBS 2.

There’s a requirement, a law,  that parents are notified and the Bronstein’s said Nate brought his concerns to the dean and nothing was done. A month later he died.

“His perception of what he can or can’t handle isn’t necessarily accurate. But that’s why policies exist and that’s why now the law exists, to involve parents,” said Robert Bronstein, Nate’s father.

“We wish them (the family) healing and peace,” the Latin School said in a statement.

The Latin School also said  the allegations of wrongdoing by the school officials are inaccurate and misplaced.

The parents don’t want money. They don’t want to see this happen to anyone else.
