PARK RIDGE (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - For the third time this year, a sneaker shop in Park Ridge has been hit by burglars.
Thieves used a stolen SUV to ram through the front window and security gate at HQ Chicago Sneaker and Streetwear on Northwest Highway. That’s according to Park Ridge Police, who say it happened just after 4 a.m. Wednesday.
Security video shows a Dodge Durango pull up right after the Jeep rammed into the store then a group of thieves grabbed shoes and cash from the register.
A neighbor told CBS News Chicago the noise woke him up.
“[There was] Park Ridge Police headed in both directions toward the store, here on Northwest Highway, and the people who were robbing the store took off another side street, on Summit [Avenue], and headed toward the highway,” he said.
Police say the Jeep used as a battering ram had been stolen in Park Ridge, and this was the third burglary at the store since it opened in January.
