Pedestrian killed in horrific hit-and-run on Tri-State, resulting in 8 hour closure: ISP

NORTHBROOK (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Illinois State Police closed lanes on the Tri-State Tollway near Willow Road for eight hours following a fatal hit-and-run incident involving a pedestrian.

For unknown reasons, just after 11:30 p.m., State Police said a woman was in the right lane on the Northbound Tri-State at the Sanders Road overpass. That’s just south of Lake-Cook Road.

There was a blue Honda on the shoulder. Police believe the woman was connected to the vehicle. She was hit.

The scene was the stuff of nightmares.  We’ll spare you the details.   “Carnage” is how a State Police Supervisor described it.

It would take all night to investigate and clean up.
