CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A person has died after being struck overnight on the outbound Dan Ryan Expressway.
Illinois State Police said the accident occurred shortly before 2:30 a.m. in the outbound lanes of the Dan Ryan, near 18th Street. The person was involved in a minor car crash, got out of their vehicle and was then hit by a passing vehicle.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
ISP shut down the outbound Dan Ryan for over four hours as they investigated the incident.
All lanes were reopened at 6:50 a.m.
