(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The owner of a West Side dog day care business is promising changes, after a dog died in a hot van last week.

The dog reportedly died Thursday after it was left in a van operated by K9 University, a dog daycare, boarding and training business on Lake Street near Sacramento.

In a facebook post, the owner says a dog named Georgia was picked up for transport that day and logged into their system for a boarding stay.

The driver checked the van to make sure all the dogs were out, but didn't notice Georgia because the dog was hiding behind a travel partition and safety crate, the post said.

The dog was discovered after a headcount in the boarding section of the facility. Attempts to revive the Georgia were not successful.

The business owner said it is the company’s responsibility to learn from the death and make it doesn’t happen again.
