Onyx's Story

PAWS Chicago describes Onyx as a young dog with a lot of puppy in her still. She’s bursting with energy and will play with as many toys as she can. Watch out for the stuffed ones, they will be destroyed. Up for a trip to the beach? Or have a small baby pool? Onyx loves the water and will play in it for hours. She loves to go on long walks where she can take time to stop and smell the roses…and the bushes, and trees, and weeds, oh my! Hang on tight though, as she has been known to chase a squirrel or two.

Take the ComPETibility quiz here.

Onyx loves the company of other dogs and quickly connects with others dogs, looking to them for guidance about what is safe. Ideally, she would have a canine sibling in her home to help her continue to blossom and build her confidence. Onyx will need to go to a cat and bird free, home because she still has not learned that smaller creatures should not be chased. She can be anxious around tiny humans due to being nervous about quick, sudden movements, so she would do best in a home without young children. She can be a bit timid when meeting new people or going new places, but when she’s adjusted, she’ll turn into a sweet and goofy pup. Onyx would love someone with patience and careful consideration for her needs so she can feel safe to show you her wonderful personality.

Are you an experienced dog owner that will allow Onyx time to settle in and feel safe? Then you might be just the home Onyx needs!
