(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Nearly one week after a middle school in Gurnee was threatened with a school shooting, local police believe they have identified the person behind that threat.
Authorities said they believe a juvenile — who lives outside Illinois — “irresponsibly” made a school shooting threat against Woodland Middle School via Snapchat on Monday.
Gurnee police received information from multiple sources about the threatening post.
On Sunday, Gurnee police thanked the community for their vigilance and said the threat was not credible.
Officials said charges are expected. They believe the threat was an isolated incident.
