Police release suspect in fatal Stone Park nightclub shooting

Police in west suburban Stone Park have released a person they describe as a suspect in a shooting at a nightclub that killed a 21-year-old Chicago woman who was dancing at the club with her boyfriend.

Investigators say a security guard at the Mansion Live nightclub, 3801 W. Lake Street, fired a gun during a fight inside the club early on the morning of March 8. A bullet from that gun killed Zulma Pacheco. Police say she was not involved in the fight.

Her boyfriend, Joel Chimborazo, told CBS News Chicago he tried to help her after realizing she was shot.

"When I tried lifting up her body, it felt heavier than usual," he said, "and then I saw like blood leaking."

Family members say Pacheco was the oldest of five children and always helped her mother around the house.

"Even on Christmas, she spent all her checks buying Christmas gifts for the kids," Pacheco's godmother, Elizabeth Uriza, told the station.

Authorities have not explained why the suspect was released late Sunday night and have not said whether they're seeking other suspects in the case.

A statement posted on Mansion Live's social media accounts says in part that the club is "heartbroken by the incident that took place."

It continues: "Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with everyone touched by this tragedy, and we are doing all we can to support local authorities as they navigate this difficult time."
