PLAINFIELD, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The couple behind a popular and somewhat controversial suburban Halloween display is back at it again this year.
A TikTok video showing the re-creation of a levitating Max, a character from the popular Netflix series "Stranger Things" put Dave and Aubrey Appel's Halloween decorating skills on the social media map and it's been a whirlwind for the Plainfield couple since.
"It's been just the craziest, craziest year," Dave said. "We've been invited to speak at seminars- do guest appearances. We're making props for a local farm.
So what can people expect this year?
"It's mixture of nostalgic Halloween movies and then combining that into the stranger Things theme," Audrey said.
Dave confirmed that Max "absolutely will make a return this year."
The couple is hoping to head off traffic congestion issues that caused problems last year by working with local schools to allow visitors to park and walk over.
They also teamed up with with Bronkberry Farms of Plainfield to bring a small free display taken from their 2022 setup that can be viewed in a family- friendly environment.
The farm is located 18061 Bronk Road and hours of operation are Tuesday-Sun 9am - 6pm
