(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – The power's back on in Schaumburg and Hoffman Estates, following a sudden and wide outage that knocked out traffic signals for thousands of drivers Tuesday afternoon.
Schaumburg Police Cmdr. Christy Lindhurst said officers had to move fast when the lights went out around 1:20 p.m. About a dozen traffic signals were knocked out in the northwest suburb, and several buildings were without power temporarily, Lindhurst said.
ComEd said power was restored to nearly all of the 56,000 customers in the Schaumburg and Hoffman Estates area.
No further information was immediately available.
