Agents fired pepper spray and tear gas Friday morning at protesters who once again tried to block activity outside an ICE Detention Center in Broadview.
The tension comes after last week saw violent clashes between protesters and law enforcement and just days after a fatal shooting at an ICE facility in Dallas.
Protesters gathered on Beach Street, where Homeland Security put up a fence, and outside an entrance on 25th Avenue and Harvard.
Curtis Evans was back carrying an American flag despite getting tear gassed last Friday.
“I’m here for non-violent means. It’s not what I’m against. It’s what I’m for. I’m for the ideas and ideals that our country stands for” he told WBBM.

Dozens of protesters moved closer to the entrance on Harvard after their efforts to block an SUV from entering at around 8 a.m. saw agents respond with pepper balls.
That sent a chemical into the air and lots of coughing from those around without respirators or masks.
By 11 a.m., law enforcement had pushed back protesters to 25th Avenue, where Broadview police closed the area to traffic and helicopters circled overhead.
