(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A handful of Chicago suburbs reportedly have some of the best public schools in the nation, according to the latest annual study from Niche.
Niche’s study was based, in part, on its own grades of public schools all over the country. In order to grade the public schools, Niche officials said they use a combination of publicly available data and reviews from students, parents and residents. Those public school grades were weighed against how many students each area’s schools serve.
The organization’s 2024 rankings included six Chicago suburbs in its top 25: Long Grove, Lincolnshire, Buffalo Grove, Hinsdale, Clarendon Hills and Northbrook.
Long Grove and Lincolnshire were ranked the highest out of the local schools. They placed in fourth and fifth, respectively. Buffalo Grove ranked No. 10. Residents of all three suburbs have multiple high schools, and all three are served by Adlai E. Stevenson High School.
Hinsdale, which ranked No. 15, and Clarendon Hills, which ranked No. 19, were both served by Hinsdale Central High School and Westmont High School. Hinsdale is additionally served by Lyons Township High School.
Northbrook ranked No. 22. Residents here are served by New Trier Township High School, Glenbrook South High School and Glenbrook North High School.
