Customers have been waiting since 4 a.m. in anticipation for the opening of the new Raising Cane’s restaurant in the Loop.
The Louisiana-based chicken finger chain is opening a flagship restaurant along Michigan Avenue. Dozens of people waited in anticipation for the grand opening — and a chance to win free chicken for a year.
“I’m a broke college student; I need the free food,” Katie Sales said.
Sales was the first in line with her two friends Gustavo Gonzales and Maria Isabel Gonzales. The trio said they’re excited for a chance to win free food from their favorite place — so excited that they’ve been waiting in line for five hours.
The giveaway will grant 20 lucky customers to receive free meals from the restaurant for an entire year.
The opening held at 10 a.m. Tuesday morning will hold other festivities, including a photo with Cane the brand’s mascot and live performance from DJ One Change, the Chicago Bulls DJ.
