A hearing in Washington marking the fifth anniversary of the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol featured plenty of Illinois representation.
Among those to speak in front of House Democrats, Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul.
“The rule of law ensures that the Constitution’s bedrock principles of separation of powers, state sovereignty, democratic accountability, due process and equal protection under the law can be relied upon.”
Raoul put the focus on his legal efforts to fight President Trump from deploying National Guard troops to Illinois, and vowed to not give up that fight.
“I and my partner state Attorneys General remain unafraid to defend the rule of law for all of the American people.”
Other speakers included Adam Kinzinger, Robin Kelly and Congressman Chuy Garcia.
“President Trump has abused military power to invade our cities and now he’s abusing military power to attack a foreign country, kidnap its leader and steal its resources for the benefit of big oil companies. It’s a shakedown.”
