CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Car break-ins in the Loop are double what they were last year and one parking garage in particular is being targeted repeatedly.
Prentice Brown has had it happen three times.
"It's like a kid in a candy store, like, 'which one do I want today? Probably that one,’” Brown said.
His SUV was among about ten that had windows broken on Sunday night or Monday morning in a garage run by LAZ Parking attached to Presidential Towers at 555 W. Madison.
"I don't mind it being a public lot," he said. My problem is I shouldn't feel fear going to or coming from that parking lot in particular," Brown told CBS-2.
The garage has an attendant during the day but not at night, and Brown said there are no cameras.
He said the people doing this know they can get away with it.
LAZ Parking is looking into this.
CBS-2 found that break-ins in the downtown area have doubled from last year. More than 100 have been reported.
