CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- As Easter approaches, some might be looking for a little bit of bunny love and you can find it right here in Chicago.
10- year -old Emma said she's having a blast hanging out with bunnies at Cuddle Bunny in Lakeview.
"The bunnies are really soft and it just makes you want to squish them, but you can't," she added. "I love it so much."
Emma is one of several visitors at Cuddle Bunny, which provides a therapeutic space for visitors to de-stress and relax.
"There have been studies that have shown that just petting any time of animal can reduce your blood pressure," said Owner Barbara Burdick.
"There's also a seratonin boost and an oxytocin boost that your body releases when you come into contact with these beautiful creatures."
She also said that people that have had PTSD come in and "they just feel incredibly relaxed when they leave" and the space is helpful to those on the autism spectrum as well.
Burdick said Cuddle Bunny isn't only a safe space for visitors, but for the bunnies, too, the majority of which are owner surrenders. Cuddle Bunny also offers boarding care and education for new or potential bunny owners.
"Any way that we can support the bunny community and make life better for these incredible creatures, we want to do that."
